In general

First look and trailer of ONNPS created an expectation to see Vijay Sethupathi in a never before avatar and a fresh adventurous movie. Did it satisfy the expectation?  Was the movie worth the penny? read further to know about it.

In brief

ONNPS is about a chase to marry a girl between VJ's who is a leader from a peculiar village that totally depends on theft and Gautham Karthik an easy go college guy who loves her deeply.
Why does Vj's want to marry her? Did Gautham Karthik succeed in his love? Was Gayathrie successful in her one-sided love for Vj's?  these are some of the interesting storylines, to make it spoiler free do witness the story in theatre.

Nailed

* Man of the show is definitely Vijay Sethupathie, the way he glorifies his character and the body language he setsup to every getup is extraordinary.
Apart from Vj's those who score in acting is Gautham Karthik and Daniel.

* Cinematography is one of the main positive of ONNPS, though the budget constraints are visible the visuals look grand and professional.

* The Art, costume and makeup departments take the bow, all three have worked hard to look out of the box.

Failed

* The core problem of  ONNPS is the screenplay, the movie picks well but later falls flat with repetitive scenes and lags.

* The predictability of the story plays the major hindrance to experience the soul of the movie. After the first half, we will start guessing the scenes along with the movie flow.

* Editor could have made the flick crisper by trimming off the lags and unwanted repetitive scenes.

* Though the songs are good the placements are painful. At times the background score won't sync with the scenes.

* The lead actresses character could have been written well, both Gayathrie and debutant Niharika had very less to perform and looked artificial.

On the whole

Humour appeals, but not frequently.

Rating - 2.25 / 5
